Dereck currently studies Master of Counselling at Monash University and works as a support worker in the homelessness sector. Since residing in Melbourne 4.5 years ago from Hong Kong, Dereck has been working with different community development organisations that focus on providing assistance to people seeking asylum, young people with traumatic background and LGBTIQA+ community.

He understands it is hard for international students to secure an industry job without the right guidance in Australia. In the Insight Session, Silva will share his mistakes in writing resume and cover letter for over 300 job applications.
