The department of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences was running an orientation program for its indigenous students. One of Hoodic’s communication programs was integrated into the Indigenous Gateways program.

We delivered a half day communication skills workshop. The workshop had a focus on enhancing learning through group discussions, activities, challenges, Q&A, briefing and reflection.

The outcome was an increased sense of communication confidence amongst students, many who were new to Melbourne as they began their studies.

Feedback from students was positive, one student noting that the program helped him identify a critical communications issue that had been causing him difficulty in his education and personal life. He stated that “This session has totally changed my perspective on communications”
